The Course Content

The Implant Course will provide implant training that exceeds the new GDC training requirements. The course is ideally suited for any General Dental Practitioner wishing to develop their knowledge of implant dentistry and is designed for dentists with little or no experience in implant dentistry.

Throughout this course participants will receive extensive teaching enabling them to diagnose and treatment plan cases to provide predictable implant dentistry in practice as an integral part of comprehensive patient care they offer.

The course will also aim to aid and assist any interested delegate through the forthcoming diploma in implantology from RCS Edinburgh. The Implant Course requirements (literature review, MCQ examinations, case presentations, logbook, mentored surgical and restorative cases)

Course Requirements

Oral surgery experience is desirable but certainly not a prerequisite for entry onto the course. In line with current directives, delegates will be required to complete a log book of the cases they treat and observe Regular short examinations and case presentations will be carried out to monitor the development and progress of the delegate.

Teaching material will also involve the use of digital home study using a specially designed course iPod. Surgical and prosthetic procedures will initially be taught and performed on plastic jaws with a further optional exclusive cadaver course.

The exclusive 2 day cadaver course will provide an unrivalled opportunity for further instruction in basic and advanced implant surgical techniques at an institution we believe to be world class.
